PROJECT DESCRIPTION FROM ALCHEMY CONSTRUCT:
‘Alchemy Construct recently completed the refurbishment of the double-storey heritage building at Abbotsford Primary School.
The project was delivered in three stages – following decanting and the construction zone establishment during the early works, construction works commenced on the north refurbishment of the classrooms, staff area and amenities. The stage 2 works included the demolition of the existing toilet block, refurbishment of the internal spaces across Levels 1 and 2 and the extension of the building to house the amenities. The upgraded teaching and learning spaces will provide flexibility fit for modern learning technologies.
An architectural feature at the school is the central atrium, providing under cover circulation space and natural lighting into the adjacent buildings. The final stage of works included the new basketball court on multi-purpose astro turf, a covered outdoor steel structure and final civil and detailed landscaping.
Works also included the installation of a lift to provide access for staff and students, new toilets and stairs to accessibility code compliance, as well as upgraded infrastructure services.’
